Open call made by the Gallery Light Art Space from the city of Silver City in New Mexico. The call requested images related to the human body from the handmade photography process using alternative photography techniques. The collective exhibition showcases all form of exploration including images that examine the subject as identity, intimacy, love, sexuality, view, social and cultural structures, beauty, ritualistic and voyeurism. The exhibition took place from the 5th of August until de 1st of October, 2022 and participated 32 artists, being Monica Paez, the only Ecuadorian artist performing.

“Anthotype emulsions, Vol. 1” – “Wildlife wisper”

“Wildlife wisper” image of a medium Galapagos Finch (Geospiza fuliginosa) captured in 2020. The image was developed on local coffee emulsion on photographic paper with a process of 10 days of insolation to obtain the necessary contrast. The catalogue Anthotype emulsions, Vol 1, is a collective research of photographers around the world, organized by the Organization Alternative Photography for the first Anthotype day in history. One hundred and three artists participated on this publication from 31 countries, registering the use of 60 plants. The theme was “Hope” as for the work presented represents that hope to find the balance between the natural wealth and the daily needs of humankind.

Anna Atkins Tribute & Journal 2024  –  “Galapagos cotton”

“Galapagos cotton” – Art work published by the Alternative Photography Organization as a tribute to Anna Atkins and a recognition as the creator of the first photobook in history. The composition of the art work incorporates botanical elements to the cutting image of the Galapagos cotton flower (Gossypium darwinii) captured in island of Isabela in 2018, pretends to emulate the narrative that Anna Atkins used to published her master piece Photographs of British Algae. The work includes a plate with the Latin name of the plant in order to achieve the perception of this travel to the tribute to whom marked an important milestone on the reproduction of images and photographic publications.

Collective exposition “Light, the art of lighting the art”

Artists from Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal were part of the first face to face exhibition, “Light, the art of lighting the art” that took place from the 27th of December, 2022 thru the 6th of January, 2023 in the @ciergalapagos edifice. The show was a great attraction for local, national and foreigner visitors, where they had the opportunity to appreciate the talent of our artists and share face to face with some of them.
