Collaborative exhibition "Reflection of my Hands"
During the month of November 2024, within the framework of the Galapagos International Film Festival, the collaborative work ""Reflection of my hands"" was inaugurated. The work carried out by Mónica Páez Espinosa and Ilenya J Robalino @ilenyajrobalino is an intergenerational proposal where the interaction of different techniques is proposed in the construction of a visual narrative that invites us to rethink the concept of identity.
Images of the hands of inhabitants and textures of the Galapagos Islands captured by the artist Mónica Páez Espinosa, were transformed into digital collages made by the artist Ilenya J. Robalino, who also contributed with a poetic component in each of the works. On the created works, key words were identified in order to intervene in them with the photoembroidery technique to create a literary idea that contributes from discovery to the visual narrative.
The exhibition was produced thanks to the support of BluSky Studios in San Cristobal and the Benjamin Carrion Núcleo Galápagos Culture House with the curatorial contribution of Carolina Velastegui @velasteguicaro and the educational mediation of Jennifer Freire @jafreco and Carolina Velastegui. The exhibition was presented on the island of San Cristóbal at the Exhibition Center of the Benjamin Carrion Núcleo Galapagos Culture House.
